During a council meeting of May 10, Stéphane J. Lalonde raised a point about a telephone conversation in late 2009 with Mayor Richard Lalonde.  During the conversation, the Mayor asked for a private meeting, after working hours at City Hall with no city employees present, to discuss a “deal”.  Stéphane J. Lalonde confirmed that he refused the meeting (preferring transparency and witnesses).  During the May 10 meeting, Mayor Richard Lalonde repeated that he never proposed a meeting without witnesses.  Fortunately, to preserve his own credibility, Stéphane J. Lalonde confirmed that the conversation had been recorded.
